Online Transactions
UPS provides a scalable secure outsourcing option for
merchants requiring automated credit card and/or cheque clearing.
For larger clients we also offer a module which can be installed on the
merchant's web server or an intermediary server for seamless operation
with their site.
Customer Retention
For online orders the UPS system allows the user to save a password in our system to
bring up their profile at a later date. Using their username and password, they can avoid
filling out their billing information or shipping information if it has not changed since their last
order. This encourages users to return to the same merchant so as to avoid wasting time filling out
forms on a new merchant's site repeatedly. Additionally, customers who have checked out in the past
with a different UPS merchant can recall their information using their username and password to check out at the
current merchant's order form.
Outsourced Transactions
Merchants connect directly to the UPS system through a URL which is hosted by UPS, but
completely customizable to fit the look and feel of the merchant site. This allows user information to
be passed over if it is available from the merchant's website to speed the order. After the order is
completed, the client is sent back to the merchant's site or any page specified by the merchant. Also,
an e-mail can be dispatched with shipping information directly to the shipping department, or for larger
solutions it can be a refreshing list on a terminal at the shipping department itself with a username and
password assigned to it.
On-site Transactions
UPS makes a transaction module available to select merchants with high-volume transaction
requirements which allows seamless integration with the existing merchant website. The module can be
called upon several ways and therefore will work with Windows NT/2000/2003 Server environments as well as
Unix/Linux/BSD and Apple server environments. Whether the merchant site is in ASP, JSP, PHP, Perl, C++, etc, the module can
be called as an executable or script and the module opens a secure connection with the UPS server to channel
information back and forth and provide confirmation on transactions. The protocol used is very simple
and adaptable to virtually any application. Contact our tech team to determine further specifications.
